Every state has a Cooperative Extension service run by its land-grant universities, and most counties have an office. It is one of the best sources of garden and farm help there is, it is local, and most of it is free.
Bizon's calculators do the math. Extension knows your county: its soils, its pests this season, the varieties that do well there and the rules for what can be sprayed. Many of the numbers and recommendations behind Bizon's tools come from Extension research, and the Plant Problem Diagnosis Key cites Extension fact sheets for every problem it covers.
So Bizon points growers to their local Extension, and built a search to make it easier to find.
The Extension Search looks through more than 100,000 garden, farm, pest and plant pages published by Extension services across the US, with pages from the searcher's own state first. Every result opens on the Extension site that wrote it.
It also lists every land-grant Extension program in the US and its territories, including the 1890 universities and tribal colleges, with links to local offices, Master Gardeners, soil testing and plant diagnostic labs where each state has them. Public advisory services in Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and other countries are listed too.
Bizon is an independent business and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any university or Extension service.
