About Bizon

Bizon, LLC builds tools for growers: calculators, planners, grow-room sensors, and the guides that explain the math behind them. The work covers greenhouse and hydroponic production, gardens, lawns, and orchards.

Most tools are free and open without an account.

• The Toolshop. Calculators for fertigation, lighting, pH, EC, water quality, soilless mixes, lawn feeding, lime, seeding, tree planting, and more.
• A connected growing system. Grow Setup, Fertilizer List, and the Fertigation Calculator share one profile, so a system entered once carries through every recipe.
• Sensors and dashboard. Climate, CO2, and soil sensors report to an online dashboard with VPD, alerts, and history for each room.
• Guides. Articles on tips, best practices, and the chemistry and calculations the tools use.

Bizon started with the Fertigation Calculator. It began as an Excel file, built over several years and used in real production, then was rebuilt as software. A handful of the other calculators started the same way.

Most fertilizer calculators either oversimplify the chemistry or overpromise on accuracy. This one is complete where the math holds up and states where the logic falls short. A complex question often needs a complex tool.

Bizon’s founder now manages an agricultural and horticultural research facility at a land-grant university, and holds an M.P.S. in Controlled Environment Agriculture from Cornell University and a B.S. in Ecology from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Bizon is an independent business and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any university.

Bizon exists to share working knowledge with anyone growing houseplants, food, cannabis, or fruit trees. Everything we grow is connected to the world it grows in. That’s Ecology.
